A-Kruunu is actively involved in research and development projects, and it promotes new innovations in the industry. The innovations are mostly related to promoting a low-carbon approach, a circular economy and wood construction, but they also concern new solutions for housing and everyday life. On this page, you will find more information on housing innovations that we have developed in Helsinki. You will also be able to read about how we promote wood construction.

Home From Group Tenancy
A-Kruunu’s group tenancy apartments combine private and shared spaces, which gives residents access to a higher number of more varied facilities for the same rent as a studio apartment. Each resident has their own rental agreement.

Timber Construction Projects At A-Kruunu
A-Kruunu is strongly involved in developing the construction process of wooden blocks of flats. Our first wooden blocks of flats were completed in Kuninkaantammi in Helsinki in summer 2018, after which wooden blocks of flats have been completed in four locations. More than 400 of our apartments are in wooden buildings.

Adaptable apartments
An adaptability concept was developed in connection with the designing of the Verkkosaari site. The concept enables the apartments to be divided into smaller ones or connected to form larger apartments when an extensive building services renovation is being carried out. This ensures that the apartments remain competitive well into the future and extends the life cycle of the building.

Our Other Development Projects
One of A-Kruunu's special tasks is to promote housing innovations. Housing is part of the solution when considering factors related to environmental goals, workforce issues or well-being. With development projects, not only individual objects are produced, but we aim comprehensively at living environments and communities that take into account the future needs of residents and society and thus build better cities.
