The Härmälänranta area in Tampere will be the site of 39 comfortable new rental apartments. There are currently good bus connections to Tampere city centre along the Nuolialantie road, which is adjacent to the area. A planned tramway line from Tampere to Pirkkala will also run along this road. Pedestrian and bicycle paths in the area lead to the Hatanpää Manor, the Arboretum and the Tampere city centre. Härmälänranta’s own local services are complemented by a wide range of commercial services available in nearby Partola. The closest daycare centres are a short walk away, and the Härmälän alakoulu primary school is only a kilometre away.

Härmälänranta’s marina, tennis court, apple orchard and numerous parks are some of the reasons why people enjoy living here. The city is also constructing a public beach on Lake Pyhäjärvi’s shores.

Härmälänranta has a varied history: it was previously known as Huvilarannikko (the Villa Coast) and later as an industrial centre where, for example, aeroplanes, locomotives and equipment for moving shipping containers in ports were built. Elements that serve as historical reminders have been preserved in the area: for example, an old factory chimney is a prominent landmark in the area. Names in the area also remind people of aviation and industrial history.

Buildings in the old aeroplane factory area have been classified as architecturally and historically valuable. The park has features of both a classical formal garden and an English woodland park.
